My ultimate brief is to use my strategic writing (and other strategy-related) skills to maximise the impact, and the results, of your leadership communications.
Generally speaking, the services I’m requested to provide fall into four primary categories:
Externally-Facing Communications

This category of communications has included anything as small but mission-critical as a service provider’s strategic letter to decline an invitation to enter into a bidding competition for an account it had serviced exclusively for over a decade (with the objective of prompting the client to reconsider) . . . to composing a speech for a particularly hostile (and at best, unresponsive) audience . . . to formulating the Managing Director’s Review and Chairman’s Statement for Australia’s largest beverages brand for several years running . . . to ghost-writing an entire business development-oriented autobiography for future production as a saleable paperback.
Internal Communiques
Sometimes, the most challenging communications a leader has to deliver is to his or her own people.
It’s also an arena in which a leader can fall victim to his or her greatest blind spots.
I’ve worked with C-suite executives to achieve multi-state, multi-department buy-in for company plans that would have been far less popular, had they not been explained carefully and in the emotional language specific to the concerns and priorities of each internal stakeholder group.
I’ve also worked with senior executives to galvanise and optimise existing or potential support for enterprise endeavours, where this could easily have been laid to waste by patronising and generic communications approaches.

At the “less visible” end of the spectrum have been my competitive intelligence compilations and briefing documents for senior executives in intense, B2B and B2G new-business pursuits – primarily formal bidding processes.
